Super Weirdo at Maroondah Festival was a success !

Hi everyone,

Performing at the Maroondah festival was blast on Sunday, the weather was nice and it was packed with hundreds of happy festival go-ers. I met a giant Blue Platypus and someone even brought out their pet goat called Ryan ?!?

I've been shopping for agents to I can focus more on training instead of marketing my services, yesterday Event Theatre Australia (www.EventTheatreAustralia.com.au) confirmed that they'll take me on their roster of entertainers so that's good news.

I'm performing at 2 festivals this weekend, The Malahang Festival and the Rotary Eltham Town Festival. Come join the fun !

Silly things you see while touring...

Hi everyone,


Since I've been performing in Murtoa I've taking a break from training and focused on marketing my services to festivals, non-for-profit organizations city councils in Victoria, Australia.

I've called/emailed/contacted over 800 of them ! Got a lot of confirmed bookings already for 2011.

Below are examples of silly things you see while touring:

Silly thing #1: The fanciest backstage room ever ! (Noticed the fancy Star design on the door, almost as fancy as the Hollywood Walk of Fame !

Silly thing #2: Boot Hill ?!? Needless to say more.

Back from Murtoa's Big weekend

Back from Murtoa's big weekend. I was staying in a town called Minyip, (population 300), in a Victorian hotel built in 1908, with no heating but a very nice electric blanket to keep warm at night :)

I performed 5 shows in total at the Showgrounds, the Horse Races, the Art Show, and in the Municipal Hall. People were very friendly and it was a blast. Went hiking in the Grampians range before and after the shows.

Fun Fact: Minyip has won the "Tydiest Town award 1988" , and the sign is still displayed at the entrance of the town, see pictures above !

Australia stop number one : Murtoa's Big Weekend

Step #127 towards world domination: performing my first gig in Australia at Murtoa's Big Weekend festival.

I will be performing 5 shows in 3 days, and since Murtoa's is near The Grampians range I'll drive a day early to check out the scenery and go for a short hike.

I'll let you know how it was, here is a picture of the festival's flyer, I made it to the front page :)

Well I'll be back, I'll start attacking (marketing my show) event management companies, entertainment agencies, and cruise ships agencies, I'd love to perform on cruise ships going to Tasmania and do the tourist over there...

Super Weirdo In Melbourne, Australia

G'day mates,

I safely landed in Australia on Sept 3rd 2010, and it is a refreshing experience ! Palm trees, Kangaroos, Vegemite, and driving on the other side of the road !

It's the start of a great adventure for Super Weirdo, with already 5 shows booked in October and more to be confirmed.

Slowly getting settled, I am still training hard to present cool tricks during my show, my focus being multi ball juggling on top of my ladder, training with 4 and 5 balls at the moment.


First stop will be Murtoa's Big Weekend festival, then the Eltham Rotary Town Festival.


PLEASE NOTE : I am still taking bookings in Canada for July/August 2011 as I will be back to perform in my native land.

Super Weirdo's First Road Sign !

Super Weirdo at Fraser Valley Public Library - libraries tour is over !

Hi,


The Fraser Valley Public Library ( FVRL ) tour is already over ! I performed 19 shows in 7 days, and it was a blast.

They booked me as part of their Summer Reading Club program. I was nice to drive around the Fraser Valley, so beautiful and green, and perform for a variety of crowds, from 30 to 350 ppl. is a lot of different spaces, gyms, stages, meeting rooms, parks.

In Langley even the Mayor was there ! I brough him on stage to be my "volunteer". It was great fun.

Super Weirdo at Queensborough Community Centre on Wednesday August 25th 2010

Hi Everyone,

I just got a call from the Queensborough Community Centre in New Wetminster, BC to book a show for Wednesday August 25th at 1:00pm. This show will be part of their Wet and Wild Wednesdays program.


The show will take place outside in Spray Park (right beside the community centre) if the weather permits or inside in the gym if it rains.

Super Weirdo at Kaslo Jazz Fest

Hi everyone,

It's been a crazy week for me, I've drove about 2500 kms in 9 days, performing 9 shows and 8 sets of roving entertainment at the Kaslo Jazz Fest, a few Fraser Valley Libraries branches, and Kid's Friday at the Lonsdale Quay Market's SUMMER FEST, in North Vancouver.

Kaslo was awesome, people are so friendly over there, it's a tiny village about 750km away from Vancouver in the mountains with a population of about 1000 ppl. Really warm people willing to have a lot of fun, music was great too. Here's a picture of the good old tennis racquet trick at the Jazz Fest.

Whistler Street Entertainment / Whistler Children Festival / Kryptonite Hot Sauce !

Hi Everyone,

I just got back from Whistler where I performed 7 shows in 3 days.

Weather was perfect, went to the beach and biking in the mountains.

I was part of the Whistler Street Entertainment program. There was also the Whistler Children's Art Festival going on at the same time.

So here's a story:

I got hungry between shows and went to the IGA grocery store in my Super Weirdo Costume. So I go to a grocery clerk : "Hey do you guys sell Kryptonite here ? I'm running low. And the guy says "Yes" ?!?!? He brings me a bottle of Kryptonite hot sauce ! I though it was hilarious...

Canada Day - 3 events in one day ouf !

Canada Day was awesome ! I had to perform roving entertainment and shows at 3 different events:

Burnaby Village Museum
City of Coquitlam Canada Day celebration
Corporation of Delta

There was so many people, everyone was in a good mood, I have met some other entertainers like Bobs and Lolo (children's music) Max-i-Mime ( awesome mime ) The Underground Circus troupe etc...

I hope that you had fun on July 1st !

News:

I'm going to spend some time in Australia from September to probably april or may, I got some requests to perform at festivals all over Australia, which is cool because not only they have tons of them, but also when things slow down in Canada, summer starts over there so I'm probably going to try to make my life an endless summer by going back and forth between O.Z. and Canada.

They have some world class circus schools in Melbourne as well, will check what they are offering...

Super Weirdo now juggling torches on top of ladder Youhou !

Hieveryone,

Today I finally busted my all time record of ball juggling on my freestanding ladder, 128 throws in a row ! (and that's counting only one hand so technically it's 256 throws !)


Like every trick I learn, when I reach 105 throws in a row, it's time to make the trick harder, I will now train to juggle flaming torches on my freestanding ladder.

Remember everyone, don't try this at home ! ( yeah right, how are you suppose to learn anything then...)

Feestival Season is starting soon ! Youhou !

Hi Everyone, here a little update about what is going on in Super Weirdo's world.

I am starting to get many bookings for festival season which is always exciting. On the list so far are major festivals in Alberta, touring Public libraries in the greater Vancouver area, summer camps, Canada Day, many local festivals...

My client list is getting so long that it will soon not fit on my website ! I also got random calls for 2 of the most reknown agents in Vancouver who are now representing me and my Super Weird Show to offer it for events.


Training update:

After 10 months of mouth juggling, I hit my record of 41 consecutive mouth catches yesterday, my previous record was 26 so that's a huge step.Just like any type of juggling, this means that your body is just getting the motion (muscle memory). The fisrt few months are the most challenging with really slow improvements and at one point it just kicks in and improves really quick !

Also, 86 consecutive throws and catches juggling 3 balls on top of my freestanding ladder (last record wass 76)


So that's it for now, I've been studying Emceeing and Stand up comedy to improve my show this summer and got tons of new jokes that are just waiting to be tested on some "guinea pigs" audiences hahaha.

POST OLYMPICS UPDATE

Hi everyone,


Wow it has been a really fun month performing for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. I've done shows at 3 different sites:

- Granville Island False Creek Community centre
- Coquitlam Village international de la Francophonie
- Surrey 2010 Celebration Site


I finally juggled on top of my ladder as the final trick of my show ! After 8 months of training it is a great accomplishment for Super Weirdo ! In Surreym I had the biggest street crowd I've ever had during my circle shows, about 400 ppl.


Ah, and I finally got , with the help of my wonderful partner and visual artist Maja Wolnik, a full length footage of my stage show which I will upload soon on my website.

SUPER WEIRDO UPDATE !

HI EVERYONE, IT'S BEEN WHILE SINCE I'VE BEEN BLOGGING SO HERE IS THE UPDATE:

TRAINING:

I've been training about 2 hours everyday for those tricks mouth juggling, juggling while balancing myself on a freestanding ladder, and classic juggling with 5 balls.

With a goal of 105 catches in a row before I start presenting those tricks to the general public, here are my top scores as for now :

Juggling on a ladder : 70 catches

Mouth juggling (2 balls) : 25 catches

5 balls juggling : 25 catches


GIGS: I just got another gig with the Vancouver 2010 Olympics Organizing Committee, at Granville Island during a Tradeshow that represents the french communities of British Columbia. So, In total I'll be performing 5 full days during the Vancouver Olympics !

I'm am more than proud to be able to add the Olympics under my client list :)
